> Ofilia Rivas Benavidez, 64, of Beeville, died Saturday, July 16, 2011. Mrs. Benavidez was born Oct. 18, 1946, in Beeville to Eulalia (Mejia) and Paulino Rivas. She married Paulino Benavidez in Plainview on Nov. 4, 1967, and was a clerk by profession. She was retired from the Bee Community Action Agency and the WIC Program and was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed collecting butterflies and was active in the women's society of the church, also serving as secretary for the group and director of crafts for the little girls in her church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Andres Rivas and Natividad Rivas; and one sister, Magdalena Garcia. Survivors include a son, Paul Anthony (Selena Diaz) Benavidez of Beeville; three sisters, Eva Martinez of San Antonio, Maria (Victor) Rodriguez and Olga Rivas Garza, both of Beeville; and three brothers, Adan (Gregoria) Rivas of Brownsville, David (Mary) Rivas and Ezekiel (Amelia) Rivas, both of Beeville. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Angelus Funeral Home with a prayer service led by Pastor Salvador Rincon to be held there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Bethel Pentecostal Church with Lic. Frankie Riojos officiating. Burial will follow in Evangelico Cemetery. Pallbearers are Joshua Benavidez, Jesse Garza Jr., Jason Garza, Alverico Saenz Jr., Averico Saenz Sr. and Ray Rivas.
