Pedro Rivas

Pedro M. "El Pete" Rivas, 62, of Beeville, died Friday, July 17, 2015. Mr. Rivas was born Dec. 8, 1952, in Runge to Maria (Mejia) and Benito Rivas Sr. He was retired from Alaniz & Perez Garage after working as a mechanic for more than 36 years. He was a DJ, a member of St. James Catholic Church and enjoyed working on old cars and playing pool. He was preceded in death by his father, Benito Rivas Sr., in 2002; and a brother, Benito Rivas Jr. Survivors include his mother, Maria Rivas; two daughters, Adriana Rivas and Briana Rivas; a son, Jeremy Thompson; two grandsons, Ayden and Christian; four sisters, Maria (Manuel) Moreno, Nina (Darrell) Vaughan, Rosalinda Prieto and Alicia (Wesley) Wilkins; three brothers, Albert Rivas, Bill (Patricia) Rivas and Tony R. (Linda) Rivas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, July 20, at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2. Pallbearers were Albert Rivas Jr., Jaime Prieto Jr., Tony Rivas Jr., James Vaughan, Bill Rivas Jr., Alex Prieto and (alternate) Bill Rivas Sr. Angelus Funeral Home
