Pablo S. Gonzales, Sr., age 96, of Skidmore, Texas, passed away on May 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and the memories of a life well lived. He was born to Agapito Gonzales and Maria S. Gonzales on October 2, 1929.
Pablo was a devout Catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Skidmore. Many knew him as "Wello".
Pablo also served in the United States Air Force.
In his younger years, Pablo had a passion for coaching in an adult softball league at the ballpark beside the Rattlesnake Tavern, an establishment he proudly owned. He also cherished time spent outdoors with his sons, whether they were fishing, hunting, or sitting by a fire. Pablo also had a true entrepreneurial spirit. He became well known around the area for the small wooden windmills he built by hand and sold along the roadside on weekends. Many people would stop not only to buy a windmill, but simply to visit with Pablo. Music was a large part of who he was, and he enjoyed conjunto music as well as playing his accordion at every opportunity.
Later in life, Pablo found peace and happiness on his ranch, where he could often be found riding around on his golf cart and enjoying the simple beauty of country life.
Above all, Pablo treasured his family. His legacy lives on through lessons taught, the traditions he passed down, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him
He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Teodora "Dora" Gonzales, his son, Paul Gonzales, Jr. and granddaughter Eloisa Mae Vaughn.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Angelus Funeral Home in Beeville with a Rosary to be recited at 10 a.m.
