Matilde Reyes

Matilde (Aguilera) Reyes, 84, of George West, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014.

Mrs. Reyes was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Beeville to Encarnacion and Julia Aguilera. She married Pedro Reyes and was a homemaker and a member of St. James Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Juan Rodriguez; brothers, Jose Casarez and Chano Casarez; and a sister, Maria Garcia.

Survivors include a son, Carlos Rodriguez of George West; two sisters, Rosa Garcia and Francisca Chapa, both of Beeville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 16, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there by the St. James Catholic Church Cursillistas at 7 o’clock that evening.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 17, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
