Maria Medina

Maria (Ochoa) Medina, 93, of Beeville, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013. Mrs. Medina was born March 25, 1920, in Pettus to Casimiro and Elvira Jimenez Ochoa. She married Benito G. Medina in Refugio on May 1, 1948, and was a housekeeper for 20 years at The Kirkland Nursing Home in Seattle, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Enedina Medina; a brother, Martin Ochoa; and sisters, Concepcion Ochoa, Sofia Rosales, Dominga Bentacud and Emma Cuellar. Survivors include a son, Joe O. (Sylvia) Medina Sr. of Beeville; six daughters, Sandra (Manuel Sr.) Garcia and Rafaela Medina Rodriguez, both of Beeville, Mary L. Medina Forbes of Seattle, Wash., Elvia (Dan) Baca of Las Vegas, Nev., Rachel Medina (Terry Barrera) of San Antonio and Linda (Mike) Buckroff of Normanna; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Wally Ochoa of Florida; and a sister, Eduvina Ochoa Ortiz of Corpus Christi. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Rev. Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2. Pallbearers will be Manuel Garcia Jr., Jared Pena, Ryan Pena, Joe Medina Jr., Myron Garcia and Narciso Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers will be Priscilla Rene Ramirez, Adam Jaron Coronado and Dustin Perez. Angelus Funeral Home
