Lazaro Puentes

Lazaro Puentes, 95, of Del Rio, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018.

Mr. Puentes was born Dec. 17, 1922, in Bee County to Francisca Hernandez and Antonio Puentes. He married Maria Hernandez in Beeville on Feb. 15, 1948, and was a groundskeeper for Bee County. He was a member of New Hope Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maria H. Puentes; grandson, Jessie Puentes; sisters, Petra Puentes, Irene Puentes, Jesusa Chavez, Virginia Pena and Guillerma Castillo; and brothers, Maximo Puentes and Esteban Puentes.

Survivors include two daughters, Petra Moreles and June (Wayne) Schroeder; two sons, Jose (Sylvia) Puentes and Jesus (Augustina) Puentes; three sisters, Nieves Salinas, Juana Flores and Eva Dominguez; a brother, Celistino Puentes; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 21, from 1 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be conducted there at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, with Rev. Salvador Rincon officiating. Burial will follow in San Pedro Cemetery in Clareville.

Pallbearers will be Casey Medina, Michael James Ortiz Sr., Michael James Ortiz Jr., Richard Dean, Celistino Puentes Jr., Abel Puentes, Edward Puentes and Jose Rivas III.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cynthia Dean, Taylor Medina, Wayne Schroeder, Kristin Rivas, Heather Gonzales-Dean, Nate Adams, Rebecca Puentes, Richard Puentes and Edward Puentes.
