June Ilene Parchman

June Ilene Parchman, a beloved and accomplished librarian and attorney, passed away on June 8th, 2023 in her hometown of Beeville, Texas. Born on May 27th, 1941 in Beeville to parents Thomas Ivy Parchman and Cora Hazel Lockwood Parchman, she lived a life filled with passion, dedication and accomplishment.

June's lifelong career as a librarian spanned several locations including McKinney, Austin, Houston and Maryland. She was known for her extensive knowledge of literature, which made her a valuable resource to all who knew her. After retiring from her libraries she turned her attention towards Law and worked as an attorney from the comfort of her home.

June was always committed to expanding her understanding of the world. In 1962 she graduated from Texas Woman's University of Houston with a Bachelor's degree before gaining an M.L.S. in Library Science in 1973 from the same university. Her insatiable curiosity led her back to college where she earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Houston in 1982.

While June excelled at academics and the pursuit of knowledge, she had quite the creative side too. Photography became one of her passions after retirement along with bird watching, storm chasing, hiking through nature trails with GPS coordinates from Geo coaching and reading lots of books - collecting enough pebbles of wisdom for friends near and far.

Beyond all else however, what those close to June will remember most fondly is her warmhearted personality marked by kindness and thoughtfulness that radiated onto everyone lucky enough to cross paths with her. Her cousin Jo Anne Romine mourns at this moment alongside everyone else who knew June.

June will be remembered always as a loving daughter to Thomas Ivy Parchman and Cora Hazel Lockwood Parchman. She valued family above all else. At this time of mourning, we remember June and honor her lifelong commitment to knowledge, creativity and the countless people she touched throughout her life. Rest in peace June Ilene Parchman.
