The Holy Spirit came down on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, and lifted our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Elodia Gonzales Hathaway, age 82, to eternal life in Heaven.
Born on July 9, 1942, Elodia was a longtime resident of Beeville, Texas, and also spent many years living in San Antonio. She was the seventh child born to Pedro and Matiana Gonzales of Skidmore/Beeville, Texas.
Elodia was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry J. Hathaway, her parents, three of her brothers, and two of her sisters.
She is survived by her children: son Alex Hathaway of Beeville; daughter Gloria Hathaway Perez of San Antonio; son Donald Hathaway of San Antonio; and son Tommy Hathaway and wife Veronica Hathaway of Victoria. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Rogelio Perez, Alexis Nicole Hathaway, Valerie Aleman, Juliana Hathaway, Avery Hathaway, and Anthony Hathaway; and her great-grandchildren: Tristen Hathaway, Mason Perez, Noah Aleman, Athena Suniga, Sophia Aleman, and Joshua Suniga.
Elodia was a woman who lived life on her own terms, with quiet strength and resilience. Though she did not wear her emotions on her sleeve, she met life’s challenges with determination. Her steady presence left a lasting impression on those who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Angelus Funeral Home, 1100 E. Houston Street, Beeville, TX 78102, followed by the funeral service at 1 o’clock with Minister Cross Ortiz officiating.
Elodia will be laid to rest at Beeville Memorial Park beside her beloved husband, Jerry.
Pallbearers will be Alex Hathaway, Donald Hathaway, Tommy Hathaway, Rogelio Perez, Billy Joe Guevera, and Joe Luis Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearer will be Marcus Aleman.
In her memory, we reflect on the complexities of family, the uniqueness of every life, and the importance of honoring each person as they truly were. Elodia will be deeply missed, but we find peace in knowing she is now reunited with her husband in Heaven, worshiping our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
