Dan Marcus Holmes, 73, of Beeville, Texas, passed away July 23, 2026.

Dan was born on April 13, 1953, in Gilmer, Texas, to Dan Carroll Holmes and Gaynell Barnes Holmes. He graduated from Gilmer High School in 1971. Soon after graduation, Dan enlisted in the United States Navy, beginning a career of service that remained an important part of his life. He later worked as an aircraft mechanic at Chase Field in Beeville and NAS Kingsville.

In 1987, Dan met and married the love of his life, Sylvia, on May 8 in Beeville, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with family, friendship and many cherished memories. Dan was a simple man who found joy in the things that mattered most. He loved spending time outdoors and adored his beloved pets, Zeus and Ziggy. He especially cherished time with his family and friends and enjoyed baking.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Dan Carroll Holmes; father-in-law, Martin T. Maldonado; and his infant son, Daniel M. Holmes

Survivors include his loving wife, Sylvia M. Holmes; his mother, Gaynell Holmes; sisters, Pam (Buddy) Lange and Karen (Larry) Lange; children, Deanna (Robert) Arrisola, Dayna Holmes, Matthew Holmes and Bryant (Mariana) Holmes; stepson, John E. Alvarado; grandchildren, Leanna (Jacob) Rodriguez, Raven Garcia (Ariana), Syber (Karina) Garcia, Maisie Mae Holmes and Kayden Rodriguez, Alexis Alvarado (Connor), Abraxus Alvarado, Dasani Alvarado; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo J. Alvarado, Robert Arrisola Jr., Juli (Remi) Herrera, Lilliana Rodriguez and Kaylani Bradley; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Angelus Funeral Home in Beeville, Texas.
