Charlie S. Ramirez, 89, a lifelong Bee Countian and master plumber, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025, in Berclair, Texas.
Charlie was born July 18, 1936, in the Olmos Community to Teodulo Ramirez and Epifania (Sanchez) Ramirez. He was a 1956 graduate of Skidmore-Tynan High School where he began to forge the path that would lead to a distinguished career and starting his business in 1960. He achieved the rank of master plumber at the ripe age of 21. On Christmas Eve, December 24, 1957, he married the love of his life, Concepcion “Connie” Gutierrez, at the Ramirez “rancho” in Los Olmos. Later the couple moved to Beeville where they would build their home and raise their six children.
A country farm boy at heart, Charlie had a strong work ethic and appreciation for the outdoors. He cherished spending time with his family and enjoyed taking them on spontaneous road trips around the countryside as well as to Astroworld, the beach and Mathis Lake. He had a gentle heart and great sense of humor and greeted everyone with a firm handshake. He was well known in the community not only for his exceptional master plumbing skills but also for his kind and giving heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Teodulo and Epifania Ramirez; and three brothers, Flumencio “Floyd’ Ramirez, Cervando “Sal” Sanchez Ramirez and Arturo Ramirez.
Left behind to cherish fond memories include his devoted wife of 67 years, Connie (Gutierrez) Ramirez of Beeville; five daughters, Debbie Martinez of Houston, Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Joe) Gonzales of Berclair, Martha Jo (Ruben) Elizalde of Olmos, Charlotte Chambless of Beeville and Rynda Ramirez of Maryland; a son, John Phillip (Cherrie) Ramirez of Austin; a sister, Felipita Villanueva of Houston; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Surrounded by his wife and children in his final moments, Charlie's legacy of laughter, love and hard work will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
A celebration of life service was held Sunday, August 24, 2025.
