Arturo "Tuto" M. Contreras Jr.

Arturo “Tuto” M. Contreras Jr., 76, passed away on August 23, 2026.

Arturo was born on September 5, 1949, to Delia and Arturo Contreras Sr. He was a devoted member of the Beeville community and spent many years giving back to others.

He dedicated himself to raising funds for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and the March of Dimes Walk for Babies, where he was recognized as a top fund raiser on many occasions.

Arturo enjoyed playing games, especially dominoes and chess. In his younger years, he was an avid coin collector, and he also loved fishing.

Arturo worked his entire career for the Beeville Independent School District in the Maintenance Division. Upon his retirement, he continued working and spent another 10 years with Walmart.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatriz (Ibarra) Contreras; and his parents.

He is survived by his sisters, Maria Marta (Contreras) Webb of Saint Augustine, Florida; Cynthia (Contreras) Clark of Lebanon, Tennessee; and Betty (Bertha Contreras) Tilghman of Willis, Texas. He is also survived by his nephews, David (Vicki) Melvin, of Colorado, and Clint Tilghman of Texas; and his nieces, Melissa (Chris) Minnes, and son, Beckett, of Florida; Dana (Keith) Bryson, and son, Liam, of Tennessee; and Drew Morgan Tilghman of Texas; sisters-in-law, Carmen (Ruell) Gauna, of Flour Bluff; and Gloria Camacho of Goliad; three brothers-in-law, Ernesto Ibarra Sr., Rudy Diaz Sr. and Chris Diaz, all of Beeville.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026, with a Rosary to be recited at 1 o’ clock at Angelus Funeral Home in Beeville, Texas.

The funeral service will follow at the same location with Deacon Santos Jones officiating.

The burial will take place at Cementerio Envangelico in Beeville.
